ADJUSTABLE FIELD SENSORS WITH BACKGROUND OR FOREGROUND SUPPRESSION FOR RELIABLE OBJECT DETECTION
New WORLD-BEAM® QS18 from Banner Engineering allows background suppression sensing up to 300 mm; foreground suppression up to 200 mm
Two new adjustable field photoelectric sensors from Banner Engineering provide reliable object detection in a wide range of manufacturing, packaging and material handling applications.
The WORLD-BEAM® QS18 Background Suppression sensor ignores everything beyond an adjustable set distance up to 300 mm, allowing operation in situations where the background cannot be controlled.
Its companion product, the WORLD-BEAM® QS18 Foreground Suppression sensor, detects objects of any shape or colour that come between it and an unchanging background. It does not have a blind zone.
The sensors are designed for use in packaging machinery, solar panel production, material handling, automotive, food, pharmaceutical and similar industries.
Both sensors are immune to fluorescent light, so they can be placed below conveyors looking up toward overhead lighting. They offer greater range than previous models, with background suppression sensing up to 300 mm and foreground suppression up to 200 mm. Cut-off distance is easily set by a multi-turn screw adjustment. Built-in crosstalk immunity allows multiple sensors to be used in close proximity.
The compact WORLD-BEAM® housing, used on many Banner Engineering products for over five years, offers a wide range of mounting options and durability to withstand harsh environments (IP67, NEMA 6 ratings). Easily visible LEDs on top of the units indicate power and sensing conditions. The sensing beam is a visible red LED. Output options include NPN, PNP and bipolar (1 NPN, 1 PNP).
