Armed, actuated and stop status conveyed by highly visible LED illumination.   New from Banner Engineering is the SSA series of E-stop buttons for emergency stop safety applications with bright, highly visible indication. The easy to install E-stops (30mm base mount) are available with two colour yellow and red lighting.  EZ-LIGHT™ logic provides an illuminated yellow base when the button is armed and the machine is able to run or is running, and turns to a flashing red indication whenever the button is pushed. The base of an armed button can also turn to a steady red indication (from yellow) when a stop condition exists by supplying an external signal. Various contact configurations such as 2 NC, 1 NC/1 NO and 2 NC/2 NO and a PNP NO auxiliary output are available in the IP65 rated rugged design. Models are available to interface with Safety BUS nodes and gateways. Push-to-stop, twist-to-release or pull-to-release operation is as per IEC60947-5-5 and the product is compliant with IEC/EN 60204-1 Emergency Stop requirements.“When multiple E-stop buttons are wired in series, the built-in logic function allows for clear indication of which device has been pushed” said Brandon Topham, a Banner application specialist at RET Automation. “The illumination function is extremely helpful in determining which E-stop has caused the stop, saving time in getting the production running again. Another area where the SSA  has found popular acceptance is in underground mining where ambient light conditions are low and the illuminated yellow E-stops are easy to find in an emergency” commented Topham.
