Wireless communication enables consistent asset management within the physical layer
New gateways and nodes extend RET’s process automation portfolio and enable users to utilize versatile wireless components within the physical layer. Being approved for ATEX zone 1, the new wireless components allow communication, diagnostics and parameterization of field devices even in explosive environments and/or hardly accessible automation areas like pump regulation, corrosion inspection, or temperature measurement within steam pipes.
The range of signals supported covers analog data and binary contacts as well as frequency signals or digital protocols via RS232 or RS485. For the transmission of a valve’s position, Turck offers a comprehensive solution providing wireless communications and the proprietary double-sensor that can detect the position of virtually every drive in the field of process automation.
Integrating wireless communications into the physical layer allows users to reduce initial wiring costs; stockkeeping and the complete supply chain management ultimately become more efficient, too. Depending on his application, the user can choose between a cost-saving point to point solution – only one gateway and one node – and a comprehensive network architecture with one gateway communicating with up to 56 nodes.
