Safety Switches with electromagnet lock.   Comitronic-BTI the French manufacturer of machine safety products has announced the “SUPERMAGNET” locking system, to prevent the accidental opening of machine guards while dangerous machinery is still in motion.

The SUPERMAGNET range exists in two versions, one is locking when energised and the other is unlocked when energised. Both versions use robust electromagnets mounted in stainless steel, resistant to shock and impact, and are suitable for harsh environments where regular wash down procedures use aggressive detergents (food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries). Also incorporated into the SUPERMAGNET is a coded non-contact safety switch. This uses the ACTOM®2 process to ensure that it is not possible to override or defeat the safety system, rated PLd when wired to one of the Comitronic AWAX modules.

In operation the system allows you to keep doors closed as well as to monitor the safety function. To open the doors you need to supply or remove the 24V to the magnet, dependent on which version you are using. When doors are opened, the coded safety contacts change state. The holding force of the magnet is up to 50 daN dependent on version.
