The connector- and housing specialist ESCHA showed new connectivity components in ‚Hygienic Design‘ at the SPS IPC Drives 2013 in Nuremberg. The refined M8x1 and M12x1 ‘Food&Beverage‘ connector line is tailor-made for applications in the food- and beverage industry meeting all important requirements of this environment.
In the food industry, the specific requirements of machinery and plants by far exceed those of the classical machinery. The new ESCHA connectors in Hygienic Design can also be used in environments where they come in contact with food. Interactions between the materials and the food being processed are averted and high resistance to detergents is guaranteed.
Development benefits from past experience
The development of the new products is based on the extensive experience ESCHA made with the ‘Food&Beverage plus‘ line in this application environment and was realized following the design requirements of the EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group). The extremely smooth surfaces prevent dirt build-ups and guarantee non-residue cleaning.
Furthermore, all Food&Beverage HD connection- and junction cables consist of FDA-conform materials: V4A-stainless steel for locking nuts and -screws with inner vibration protection as well as PP-based overmolding- and cable materials. These plastics are resistant to ECOLAB-certified detergents. All sealing and optical properties of the connectors are long-term maintained. With protection classes IP67 and IP69K, the HD-connectors fulfill the high requirements for high-pressure- and steam-jet cleaning.
Comprehensive portfolio at market launch
At market launch, ESCHA offers a comprehensive product portfolio of its Food&Beverage connectors in Hygienic Design. As of now, the M8x1 and M12x1 connection- and junction cables are available in straight- or angled housing styles as well as female or male (respectively in 3- and 4-pole) versions. Additionally, LED-versions will be available in future.
